Virtual PD: Restorative Justice in the Classroom
Registration: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/vF1ByhwgRgSAJhj8w9V_Ug
Description: This workshop is designed to explore ways that restorative practices can be used in the classroom. Teachers and school staff will gain skills and tools to incorporate restorative practices that will increase student engagement in academic and community content, promote consistent student attendance, and develop proactive systems to respond to student behavior. Participants will have the opportunity to practice energizers for classroom transition, Socratic seminars for civil discourse, literacy circles for reading comprehension, and identify best practices for designing sustainable daily routines and procedures and clear expectations for the classroom community.
All professional development sessions teach skills and practices that you can implement immediately. Visit RestorativeDC.org/events to explore all restorative justice programming, by Restorative DC in collaboration with OSSE. Participants will receive two professional learning units (PLUs) for full participation in each session. For questions, email Jessica.Dulay@dc.gov.
We strive to host inclusive, accessible events that enable all individuals, including individuals with disabilities, to engage fully. Please indicate any reasonable accommodations that will allow you to participate in this virtual event at least 3-5 days prior to start. Email us at rdc@schooltalkdc.org with any questions.
