SUMMARY:In-Person PD: Transforming Conflict - Restorative Practices for a Positive School Community
DESCRIPTION:Date: February 17\, 2026 \nTime: 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. \nLocation: OSSE \nTarget Audience: Administrators\, Teachers\, School Staff\, Behavioral Support \nDescription: Conflict is an inevitable part of school life\, but when left unaddressed it can harm communication\, disrupt learning\, and damage the overall sense of safety and well-being in a community. This professional development session will reframe conflict as an opportunity for growth\, connection\, and cultural change through the lens of restorative practices.  \n\nEducators will deepen their understanding of how conflict shows up in schools\, reflect on their personal conflict styles\, and learn strategies to work effectively across different approaches. \nParticipants will also practice restorative techniques—such as affective statements\, check-ins\, community-building activities\, and responsive circles—that foster trust and repair relationships. \n\nBy the end of the workshop\, educators will leave with practical tools to address conflict constructively and strengthen a positive\, connected school climate. \nThis training will take place on Tuesday\, Feb. 17 at 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at OSSE\, 1050 First St. NE\, Room 108. Participants will receive 6 PLUs for full participation. For questions\, please email Jessica.Dulay@dc.gov. \nRDC Registration Link: https://forms.gle/gv3iKTbLDJVReBWJ6 \n  \n
