In Person PD: Restorative Engagers and Brain Breaks

April 5, 2023at12:30 pm - 3:30 pm

Location: In-Person, OSSE, Eleanor Holmes Norton Room 108

Description: Target Audience: School Staff, Behavior Support Staff, Teachers

Join us to learn strategies for incorporating humor, fun, connection, and energy into in-person and online sessions with students. The session includes an exploration of the role of icebreakers, brain breaks, and student engagers in building relationships, promoting social-emotional awareness, and implementing trauma-informed practices. Teachers and school staff can use these activities as part of lesson plans, advisory sessions, and circle processes. All activities can be tailored to a variety of ages, interests, and abilities.

This in-person session will be held at the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) located at 1050 First Street NE, Washington, DC 20002. Parking is available near the office. Metro stops near OSSE on the Red Line are Union Station and NoMa / Gallaudet University.

DC Public School and DC Public Charter School staff are asked to register for this course through OSSE’s new learning management system (LMS) platform. Educators can follow the instructions here to activate their account. Staff will only be able to receive PLU’s by registering through the system. If you have issues or questions regarding the OSSE LMS registration, please contact Jessica Dulay via email at [email protected].

We strive to host inclusive, accessible events that enable all individuals, including individuals with disabilities, to engage fully.
