In Person PD: RJ in the Classroom for All Learners

April 26, 2023at8:30 am - 11:30 am

Description: Target Audience: Teachers, Teacher Supports, School Staff

This workshop is designed to explore ways that restorative practices can be used in the classroom. Teachers and school staff will gain skills and tools to incorporate restorative practices that will increase student engagement in academic and community content, promote consistent student attendance, and develop proactive systems to respond to student behavior. Participants will have the opportunity to practice energizers for classroom transition, literacy circles for reading comprehension and identify best practices for designing sustainable daily routines and procedures and clear expectations for the classroom community.

This in-person session will be held at the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) located at 1050 First Street NE, Washington, DC 20002. Parking is available near the office. Metro stops near OSSE on the Red Line are Union Station and NoMa / Gallaudet University.

DC Public School and DC Public Charter School staff are asked to register for this course through OSSE’s new learning management system (LMS) platform. Educators can follow the instructions here to activate their account. Staff will only be able to receive PLU’s by registering through the system. If you have issues or questions regarding the OSSE LMS registration, please contact Jessica Dulay via email at [email protected].
