In-Person PD: Responsive Circle Implementation

Description: Target Audience: School Staff, Teachers
Learn how to incorporate responsive peacemaking circles into your classroom and community. This session will focus on responsive circles and the structured intervention for severe and complex incidents of harm. Participants will engage in mock disciplinary scenarios to practice a responsive circle; discuss preparatory meetings, mock circles, and written agreements; and review re-entry processes. Throughout, session facilitators and participants will share feedback to enhance skill development. Throughout the session, participants will explore the intersection between responsive circles and the D.C. Student Fair Access to School Act..
This in-person session will be held at the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) located at 1050 First Street NE, Washington, DC 20002. Parking is available near the office. Metro stops near OSSE on the Red Line are Union Station and NoMa / Gallaudet University.
DC Public School and DC Public Charter School staff are asked to register for this course through OSSE’s new learning management system (LMS) platform. Educators can follow the instructions here to activate their account. Staff will only be able to receive PLU’s by registering through the system.
