Community of Practice: Revisiting the Fundamentals of Facilitating Circles

December 7, 2023at9:00 am - 11:00 am

IN-PERSON SESSION

Location: TBA

We can always use a refresher on the foundations of facilitating proactive restorative circles. Proactive circles are effective approaches to establishing routines and norms of connection, active listening, and storytelling in our classrooms and school cultures. As we seek to establish more just, equitable, and restorative learning environments in schools, it is important for us to continue to refine our understanding of what it means and requires to facilitate proactive circles. This Community of Practice provides an experiential opportunity to revisit the fundamental components of facilitating circles, and have meaningful interactions with other educators who are navigating the journey of facilitating circles as well.

Guiding Questions

  • What are the fundamental components of proactive circles?
  • What skills do students gain by having opportunities to participate in proactive circles regularly?
  • What does it mean to be a circle facilitator?
  • How can we incorporate proactive circles in our classroom routines?
