PD: Restorative Communication and Dialogue

Target Audience:  School Staff, Teachers, Classroom Support Staff

Description: Join us for an engaging workshop designed to explore how everyday language and proactive dialogue skills can enhance student and staff engagement, foster a sense of contribution, and build a community grounded in care, inclusion, and resilience. Learn strategies to support both individual and group dynamics, emphasizing the importance of mattering and collective well-being.

Session Objectives:

  • Reflect on and learn about proactive engagement with students, drawing on key principles of connection informed by the latest social and neuroscientific research.
  • Actively practice communication and coaching skills to enhance competencies in nurturing connections and increasing engagement.
  • Examine the implementation of Tier 1 daily practices and Tier 2 proactive communication and dialogue across classrooms and schools, identifying gaps and opportunities to repair and strengthen connections for future restorative actions.

By the end of the workshop, participants will be equipped to promote and maintain staff and student relationships through effective communication, address disconnection, enhance understanding and validation, and establish regular supportive interactions to promote optimal growth and engagement throughout the school community.
