PD: Restorative Justice, Social-Emotional Learning, and Mental Health

March 18, 2025at9:00 am - 3:30 pm

Location: TBD

Target Audience: Administrators, Teachers, School Staff, Behavioral Support

Description: Join us in this engaging workshop to explore how restorative practices can support mental health and promote SEL. Restorative practices are dialogue-driven processes that focus on fostering equitable, inclusive relationships rooted in trust, understanding, and collaboration within a community. This trauma-informed/healing-centered approach includes techniques such as community-building circles, significant opportunities for social-emotional learning (SEL), and procedures (or processes) emphasizing mental wellness for students, school staff, and families.

Session Objectives:

  • Actively engage in practicing and planning community-building circles and other restorative strategies tailored for both in-person and virtual environments, and
  • Gain a deeper understanding of how these practices align with and enhance existing mental health and social-emotional frameworks, such as the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS).

By the end of the workshop, participants will be equipped to integrate restorative practices into their educational settings to nurture a supportive and resilient community.
