PD: Transforming Conflict – Restorative Practices for a Positive School Community

April 8, 2025at9:00 am - 3:30 pm

Location: TBD

Target Audience: Administrators, Teachers, School Staff, Behavioral Support

Description: Conflict is a challenging aspect of any school community that creates barriers to communication, hinders learning, and makes everyone feel unsafe. Remaining in a state of constant conflict can have a negative impact on the mental health, wellness, and overall climate of a school. Join us for this insightful session where participants will learn to transform conflicts into opportunities for growth and understanding. Through the lens of restorative practices, we will:

  • Understand the Concept of Conflict: Gain insights into the nature of conflict and assess how it manifests within their own school community.
  • Identify Personal Conflict Styles: Discover and understand your conflict style, and learn techniques that cater to your style and the styles of others.
  • Explore Restorative Practices: Learn how restorative practices can help rebuild relationships as part of conflict resolution and support the re-establishment of a positive school culture.
  • Practice Restorative Techniques: Engage in practical exercises using affective statements, check-in conversations, community-building activities, and responsive circles to demonstrate how restorative practices can support conflict resolution.

By the end of this workshop, participants will be equipped with the tools and techniques necessary to address conflicts constructively, paving the way for a healthier, more connected school community.
