Restorative Justice and Special Education

IN-PERSON SESSION

Restorative justice is increasingly applied in schools worldwide to manage classrooms and create inclusive, socially connected, and supportive learning environments for every student, including those with disabilities. Restorative practices help students develop self-advocacy and social-emotional skills at the same time they are building academic competencies. This experiential workshop will help teachers, administrators, and special education staff explore the needs of students with disabilities, identify restorative applications for supporting students with disabilities and their families, and accommodate differences when circle-keeping.

DC Public School and DC Public Charter School employees who are interested in receiving 2 PLUs for full participation in this course are asked to register for this course through OSSE’s new learning management system (LMS) platform. Educators can follow the instructions here to activate their account. Staff will only be able to receive 2 PLU’s by registering through the system.
