Restorative Justice & Universal Design for Learning (Part 1*)
December 4, 2021at10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Target Audience: Administrators, Early Education Staff, School Staff, Teachers
This session runs from 10:00 a.m. to 12 p.m. with an optional planning hour from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
How can we make restorative justice accessible to everyone? How do we engage in restorative practices beyond circles and responding to conflict? When students have the freedom and opportunity to co-create their learning experiences, they are more likely to remain engaged, participate in learning, and develop healthy relationships within the school community. Join us as we examine the intersection of restorative justice and Universal Design of Learning, a framework to improve and optimize teaching and learning for all people based on scientific insights into how humans learn. Participants will consider how restorative practices support engagement, representation, action, and expression of all K-12 learners in the school community.
*Part 2 will run during the Spring PD Series. We encourage you to join coaching sessions throughout the fall to continue your learning & get support implementing RJ in the classroom for Young Learners
All professional development sessions use a trauma-informed approach and teach skills and practices that you can implement immediately. We highly encourage participants to join our weekly coaching sessions for a deeper dive into the challenges of implementation and practice. All Fall 2021 sessions will be held virtually on Zoom.
